Panchthar banda called off after 4 days

BHIM CHAPAGAIN

KATHMANDU, Jan 25: Panchthar banda enforced over the arrest of six persons on charge of slaughtering an ox has been called off after four days, Friday.

Long and small routes vehicles have resumed their service from today, District Administration Officer Kosh Hari Niraula said.

However, Panchthar chairman of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Birkha Bahadur Waiba said that though the banda has been called off they would continue with sit-in protests.

On January 10, six locals Dal Bahadur Gurung, Deepak Angmo, Ramesh Nembang, Shuv Chandra Rai, Binod Nembang and Pramish Guragain were arrested on the charge of slaughtering cow.

NEFIN and various other organizations had called the banda demanding the withdrawal of the cases against the accused.
