KATHMANDU, Jan 25: A thirty-two year old woman was killed in brick kiln accident on Friday when the wall supporting the mud-moulding-machine crushed her body. The accident happened at Shree Laxmi Brick Factory at Tathali VDC-8 of Bhaktapur.
According to the Metropolitan Police Range Office Bhaktapur, the deceased has been identified as Sanu Maya Tamang 32, of Methinkot VDC-4 of Kavrepalanchowk district.
According to DSP Puskar KC, spokesman at Bhaktapur Metropolitan Police Range Office, seriously injured Tamang breathed her last on the way to hospital.
DSP KC said, “We are still investigating the reason behind the wall collapse that killed Tamang while she was collecting moulded mud in a trolley.” We were informed about the incident at around 9:45 am but she was already dead by then, he said.
Dil Bahadur Tyat, the owner of the factory told Republica that the wall might have collapsed due to the vibration caused by the tractor engine, which powered the moulding machine. He said the wall was constructed just a month ago.
Tamang´s kin and the owner have reached an agreement whereby the owner has agreed to pay for the education of her children, police said. In the accident, three laborers working alongside Tamang were able to escape unhurt.
