  Ruling alliance to feild 5000 youths to counter oppn show of strength

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: In order to counter the show of strengthen by the opposition parties on Wednesday at Khulamanch, Kathmandu, the ruling alliance--Federal Democratic Republican--has decided to mobilize 5,000 youths at the same venue the very next day on Thursday.

The opposition alliance, including Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti Party, is going to hold a mass gathering on Wednesday at Khulamanch.

Both the alliances are taking the show of strength program as ´prestige issue.´ "The youth volunteers will help to manage the more than 100,000 people we hope bring in at the program," said Ganesh Man Pun, coordinator of the volunteer mobilization committee, who is also the chief of Young Communist League (YCL), the youth wing of the (UCPN) Maoist. "The role of the youths is to mobilize the masses," added Pun, saying the youths will retaliate if needed.
