Madhyapur Club fined Rs 200,000 for its unsporting behavior

REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Jan 28: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) fined Rs 200,000 and slapped a year ban to seven officials including coach and president Upendra Man Singh of Iceberg Madhyapur Youth Association on Monday for its unsporting behavior.

Singh who is also former captain of the Nepali national team and also former assistant coach of the national squad, along with other officials attempted to manhandle the match referee and occupied the playground for half-an-hour after losing 1-0 against Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club.

Tension ran high after Madhyapur´s Nirajan Rayamajhi fell down in the danger zone following a challenge from Som Bahadur Malla in the 74th minute. Match referee Bikash Mahat turned down the penalty appeal by Madhyapur players and officials.

The club, which finished third from the bottom, was relegated from the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull A Division Football League along with Bauddha and Bansbari FC.
