Power cut for a cheap publicity: Oli

REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Senior CPN-UML leader KP Oli said that the new government will have a tough time in reducing the load-shedding hours as the present government was operating Kulekhani round-the-clock.

Speaking at a program to mark Martyrs´ Day at Shahid Gate, Tuesday, Oli said that to reduce the load-shedding hours by two hours was just a cheap publicity stunt by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai.

"Kulekhani is being operated throughout the day to reduce the load-shedding by two hours," Oli said. "The new government will have to face public rage as the load-shedding will climb to 20 hours per day in the next month. The present leadership will then claim that the power cut hours were far more less during their time."

Addressing the same program, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh said that the protest against the government was necessary to institutionalize the historic achievements.

The program was also addressed by UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha, NC leader Nabindra Raj Joshi, Rastriya Janmorcha Nepal General Secretary Santa Bahadur Nepali and CPN Samyukta leader Ganesh Shah, among others.
