Pakistan beats Nepal 1-0 in first friendly

REPUBLICA ONLINE

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: A goal by Pakistan in the injury time of the second half handed Nepal a 0-1 loss in the first of the two friendly matches between the two national football teams, on Wednesday.

In the match played at Dasharath Stadium in the capital, Hassan Bashir scored the only goal of the match to help the visiting team secure a close win. This was Nepal´s first international match after Jack Stefanowski took over as Nepal´s head coach in January.

The second friendly match is slated for Saturday. Nepal and Pakistan had played a 1-1 draw during the SAFF championship in 2011.  "Basically, the match being a friendly offered us to experiment on our boys´ potential," Nepal coach Stefanowski said after the team´s loss, before conceding,"We made some mistakes and paid price for it."
