BARA, Feb 9: CMG Club Sankata advanced into the quarterfinals of Magic Moments Fourth Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament defeating Armed Police Force (APF) 2-1 in Simara, Bara on Saturday.
The match was played for extra half-an-hour after the regulation time ended 1-1. Samuel Ongono scored the decider in the 105th minute to steer his side into the last eight of the tournament.
Earlier, skipper Ganesh Lawati had put APF ahead in the 39th minute through a freekick. The ball entered the net though Sankata´s African custodian Ndoe Mbarga Pierre got his hands on it. Sankata hit back the equalizer in the 74th minute through Dikesh Khadkgi who scored from a crowded area. Sankata´s custodian Pierre was declared the man of the match.
Yeti Airlines Himalayan Sherpa Club will take on Friends Club on Sunday. Himalayan Sherpa replaced Three Star Club which pulled out of the tournament.
