KATHMANDU, Feb 11: The Restaurant and Bar Association, Sauraha, is organizing Sauraha Food Festival from February 13 to 16 in Sauraha, Chitwan.
The objective behind organizing the festival is to promote domestic as well as international tourism, said Rajan Bhatta, the festival´s coordinator. The fair will have 62 stalls selling variety of food and drinks.
The major attraction of the event is eating contest of gundruk, dhido, mo:mo, corn and soybean and drinking contest of alcohol and Fanta, according to organizers. Besides, other entertaining games like pot breaking competition among journalists, tug-of-war, and waiters´ and tourists´ race will also be held.
Those who book elephant safari, canoeing trip and jeep safari at the event premises will get 10 percent discount, organizers said.
Likewise, hotels and restaurants affiliated to the association will be providing 15 percent discount on its services.
The organizers have fixed an entrance fee of Rs 30 for the event and have expected turnout of around 60,000 visitors. The Regional Hotel Association and the Tourism Entrepreneurs Organization are co-organizers of the event. Bottlers Nepal Terai is the sponsor of the festival.
