  Ncell U-15 football begins Friday

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: The district qualifying rounds of Ncell Youth Cup 2069, a U-15 age category football tournament for boys will kick off from Friday across districts affiliated with All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

ANFA made this declaration amidst a press conference at its headquarters Satdobato, Lalitpur on Thursday. The qualifying rounds will be held across all 45 districts associations of ANFA until February 15.

"The event is organized with the view to pick talented young players," said Dhirendra Pradhan, the general secretary of ANFA. "After conducting club level tournament at the district level, best players will be selected to form a regional team across all five regions of the country. The regional team will be given two-week training."

"Following that five regions and three departmental teams -- Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force (APF) will vie in the last round of tournament at the final level to be held under league cum knockout basis," said Pradhan.

According to ANFA President Ganesh Thapa, ANFA academy players will not be eligible to participate in the tournament and the best players from the final rounds will be picked to form the national squad along with the player of ANFA Academy.

The national squad will vie in the 2nd SAFF Championship and the qualifying rounds of AFC U-16 Championship.

The event is organized as per the deal between ANFA and Ncell, a telecom as the third event of the year. Earlier, Ncell National Women´s Football Championship and Ncell Cup Football Championship had been organized by ANFA in association with ANFA.
