KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Host Daffodil School achieved twin victories on Monday in the Daffodil Cup Inter-school Football and Basketball Tournament being held in the capital. The host registered victories in junior boys´ football and senior boys´ basketball.
In junior boys´ football, Daffodil defeated Brihaspati Vidya Sadan 3-1. Pratham Dahal, Mingmar Lama and Bikram Oli scored a goal each for Daffodil while Ishan Rai pulled one back for Brihaspati.
In senior boys´ basketball, Daffodil overcame Golden Peak 53-30 with Chonde Lama netting the highest 15 points for the winning side. In the other football match of the day, NIMS beat The Chandbagh School 2-0. Bibek Tamang and Krishna Khadka were on target for NIMS. Similarly, in senior boys´ basketball, TIA saw off Brihaspati 33-20 and Opal defeated The Excelsior 38-21.
Kelsang Sherpa netted 12 points for TIA and Rajeev Sunuwar netted 19 points for Opal. In senior girls´ basketball, Valley Public defeated Brihaspati 26-15, Pennwood overcame Sky Lark 21-15, Teresa beat Lord Light 20-10, Baba toiled hard to beat NIMS 28-27 and Teresa defeated Everest 15-8.
