KATHMANDU, Feb 21: A new book entitled "20 Years of Economic Liberalization" authored by economic journalist Gajendra Budathoki was launched on Thursday in the capital.
The book which has explained in detail the economic fluctuations the country has passed through since the economic liberalization process started in1990, was unveiled by former Finance Minister Dr Ram Sharan Mahat.
"Economic liberalization has made a tremendous impact in people´s lives in the country. We have gained a lot during the last twenty years," Mahat said commenting on the book. "However, we couldn´t take optimum benefits from the country´s liberal economic policies adopted by the government due to lack of good governance and weak law and order situation."
Budathoki, who is also the editing coordinator for Karobar daily, said he wrote the book after he experienced absence of reference books on Nepal´s economy in his journalistic writings.
"The void of reference books pushed me to come up with this book," he said.
The book is a compilation of Budathoki´s articles published in Karobar. Some parts of it are based on his personal observation as an economic journalist.
Commenting on the book, Prateek Pradhan, the editor-in-chief of Karobar daily, said the book can be an eye-opener for those who want to know about Nepal´s economy.
