LALITPUR, Feb. 22: Kin of a woman who was brought to the Patan Hospital for delivery vandalised the hospital today after she died while undergoing treatment there last night.

The hospital declared her dead on Friday though she had been admitted to the hospital since last Saturday. Kin of the deceased have claimed the woman died due to negligence by doctors.

The woman from Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. She was admitted in a very poor health condition, said an official at the hospital.

Talks between kin of the deceased and the hospital management are underway regarding the incident, the hospital stated.

Meanwhile, issuing a press release today, the Patan Hospital said that the pregnant woman died while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from reaction due to the use of ´Bupivacaine´ medicine.

The medicine was used in connection to vaccinate her for undergoing a cesarean section on February 17.

The medicine ´Bupivacaine Spinal Anesthesia´ is widely used, and negative impact is rarely seen, but it is reported in different international medical science journals that this kind of reaction has been seen in other countries too, the hospital management stated.
