LALITPUR, Feb. 26: Former lawmaker Sunilbabu Panta has returned the entire salary he received as a Constituent Assembly (CA) member to the government.Panta returned the salary after some problems were seen while renewing the license of the Blue Diamond Society.
He returned about Rs. 950,000 to the Parliamentary Secretariat. Panta had not taken the salary for the last 11 months of his term saying the Constituent Assembly could not draft the constitution.
Panta has established the Society to advocate the rights of LGBTs (sexual minorities). The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, did not renew the license of the organization citing large-scale corruption has taken place of late in the organisation.
Panta said that he returned the salary of the remaining period after Chudamani Sharma, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, put the condition that the organisation will be renewed only after he returned the salary.The organisation was established 11 years ago
