KATHMANDU, June 4: The government and the Asian Development Bank have established an “Independent Expert Group” for independent monitoring of the 750 MW West Seti Project. The group consists of local experts picked from social, environmental and hydropower fields.

According to the office of the West Seti Project, the experts include Dr Hemraj Pant, Dr Haridatta Lekhak and Kirtichnadra Thakur.

The group will formulate social and environmental policies and programs for the project, seek solutions to present problems facing the developers, and recommend ways for making the project more result-oriented, timely and economically viable.
