KATHMANDU, Jan 27: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has formally launched online visa application system.
Foreigners interested to visit Nepal can fill up application form online to get visa, according to DoI officials. The department had launched the trial version of the online application system in November last year.
According to the department, foreigners can fill up visa application form by visiting www.online.nepalimmigration.gov.np or www.nepalimmigration.gov.np <http://www.nepalimmigration.gov.np>.
Foreigners landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) without filling up the form can fill up the form online at TIA Immigration Office.
Foreigners can apply online for all types of visas except diplomatic and official visa, DoI said in a statement on Monday.
For diplomatic and official visa, foreigners need to apply online at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Foreigners can also apply online for trekking permits for different controlled areas.
“Making visa application online is our attempt to offer better quality, fast and smart services to our esteemed guest. As the system consumes less paper, it is also a part of our commitment to the environment friendly service,” Shambhu Ghimire, director of DOI, said.
According to the department, the system can preserve application for 15 days. The applicant has to upload color photo and submit passport details and contact details while filling up the forms.
They will then get a receipt which they have to produce, along with original documents, before immigration officials upon their arrival at TIA.Immigration officials hope foreigners will now be able to get visa within 10 minutes.
