KATHMANDU, Aug 5: With an aim to promote the rights and interests of Nepali women residing outside and within Nepal, Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and UN Women signed a memorandum of understanding in the Capital on Tuesday.

The deal between the two organizations targets to raise awareness on gender equality and women´s empowerment in a more effective way, read a press statement issued by the UN Women on the day.

´´Significant challenges remain, including the need to create more and better employment opportunities and to recognize all the contributions Nepali women make towards its country´s economic growth though the country supports gender equality since long time,” addressed Ziad Sheikh, Representative, UN Women Nepal, on the occasion. He stressed that strong partnership and well-designed programs, backed by increased investments is essential to minimize the gap every day.

Shesh Ghale, president, Non-Resident Nepali Association, expressed his delight on the tie-up with the UN agency. "With sound knowledge and resources to inspire the corporate sector to make a significant contribution for economic empowerment of women, NRNA will exercise its capacity to the fullest to achieve that goal,” he added.
