TAPLEJUNG, Aug 25: One died and another injured when an unidentified group shot at them in Taplejung district on Monday evening.
Lagan Dhoj Limbu, 35, of Libang-7 died on the spot and his friend Lokesh Limbu sustained injuries on his head and both hands, informed inspector Pralhad Adhikari of Taplejung District Police Office. It is said their friend Rabin Limbu, however, was able to escape from the attack.
Inspector Adhikari said deceased Lagam Dhoj Limbu was shot at on his chest and his hands and neck was cut completely. It is learnt that deceased Limbu was the secretary of Libang Village Committee of Unified CPN (Maoist). A witnesses on the condition of anonymity said a group of nine people attacked them.
Police have begun investigating into the incident.
