PALPA, May 4: Two elderly women were found dead on Friday in Barangdi VDC-2 of Palpa district.
The dead bodies of Kumari Gaha, 70, and Bhuni Kala Gaha, 65--who had gone to a nearby jungle to graze their goats the previous day--were found by villagers beneath a tree. The police said the elderly women were murdered for their jewelries.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mira Chaudhari, the gold ornaments worn by Kumari and Bhumi Kala were missing when their bodies were found by the villagers.
The family members of Kumari and Bhumi Kala started searching for them after they didn´t return home after they had gone out to graze their goats Thursday morning.
They were found dead half-an-hour walk from their home. The police said Kumari had cut marks on her throat while Bhumi Kala´s head was smashed. Their bodies also bore bruises.
Although Regional Police Office of Kaski sent out a team with sniff-dogs to the site of the crime on Friday, no clue about the killer was found. The sniff-dogs failed to trace the killer as more than 24 hours had passed by the time they were brought to the site, the police said.
