Panchthar Banda Enters Day Two |

TAPLEJUNG, July 23: CPN-Maoist activists have continued their agitation and enforced banda in Panchthar on the second day on Monday.
The cadres of CPN-Maoist called for banda yesterday, accusing members of Nepali Congress of killing a member of their party.
Gajendra Jabegu, an area committee member of the party, had sustained fatal injuries in an attack by unidentified assailants on July 10, and had subsequently died during the course of his treatment at Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar.
The protestors had taken out a procession this morning and sent the body to Jabegu´s native village Yangnam.
Demanding compensation for the bereaved family and stern action against the culprit, the banda has continued on the second day crippling the normal life of people.
Marketplaces, shops and industries have all remained shut since yesterday.
The vehicular movements along the Taplejung-Phidim road section of Mechi Highway has been obstructed due to the strike.
District secretary of the party, Laxmi Neupane has warned of indefinite strike till the time the government addresses its demand.
