SPORTS BRIEFS: Cricket Captain Khadka Returns Home
  KATHMANDU, Aug 9: Nepali cricket team captain Paras Khadka returned home on Wednesday after playing club cricket in Canada for the Ontario Cricket Academy and Club for three months. Khadka is back to Kathmandu for the preparation of Nepali national team for the World Cricket League Division 4 to be held in Malaysia from September 3.

Khadka scored 374 runs with an average of 41.56 to become the top scorer for Ontario, which is on the top of Pompey Conference League, premier division.

During this span, Khadka took 13 wickets with an average of 11.73. "It provided me a good exposure and the experience would help me perform better for the national team in Division 4," said Khadka.

Kunwar wins gold

KATHMANDU: Sujan Kunwar won gold medal in the Seventh Hareram Joshi Memorial Inter School Table Tennis Tournament on Thursday. Kunwar from Everest Boarding School, Butawal defeated his schoolmate Shiva Pun 6-11, 11-7, 5-11, 13-11 in the final of the U-14 boys´ singles, the only category included in the tournament organized at the National Table Tennis Training Center.

Narayan Ghimire of the Everest Boarding School and Niran Gorkhali of Mount Valley School, Bhaktapur claimed bronze medals. Altogether 64 players participated in the tournament organized by former TT chief coach Ramesh Raj Joshi in the memory of his father.
