Maoists-UDMF Meet Concludes
KATHMANDU, Sept 19: A meeting between the ruling coalition partners--UCPN (Maoist) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held at the prime minister´s official residence in Baluwatar has concluded, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the leaders have decided to go for fresh elections if the parties fail to forge consensus on the number of federal units to be carved out while restructuring the country.

Emerging from the meeting, Chairman of Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party (TMLP), Mahantha Thakur said, "The meeting decided to float a proposal for ten provinces. Should NC and UML reject the proposal, we have decided to go for fresh polls."

A day earlier, a joint meeting of the three major political parties and UDMF had ended on an inconclusive note, with  the leaders differing over the number of federal provinces, mainly in the Tarai. During the meeting, Maoists and UDMF stood for two federal provinces across the Tarai, which NC and UML were opposed to.

The leaders of the four political forces are scheduled to sit for another round of talks later in the day.
