Agriculture Bank To Provide Easy Loan For Self-employment
  KATHMANDU, Oct. 4: The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) is to provide easy loans for the implementation of the government decision of providing employment to jobless youths by using maximum productive labour.

Official at the Small and Micro Entrepreneurship Development Department of the Bank, Govinda Aryal, told RSS that responsibility of providing loans in easy manner in 25 districts has been given to the bank for the implementation of the self-employment programs determined by the government.

Stating that an agreement has been signed between the Secretariat of the Youth and Small Entrepreneurs Self-Employment Fund and the Bank for the implementation of the Self-Employment Loan Operating Directives, Aryal said the directives has managed a system to provide easy loan of maximum of Rs. 80,000 for a person or group for self-employment works including for vegetable farming, floriculture, rickshaw operation, among others.

The bank has been providing loans on the recommendation of the district based Office of Small and Cottage Industries and through a district-level mechanism formed by the Fund.

The directives mentioned that loans should be provided to businesspersons, who have received training at the Cottage Industries Development Committee, on the basis of certificates.

The Bank has also released budget to operate self-employment programme in 25 districts including Siraha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Rasuwa, Ramechhap, Kapilvastu, Rolpa, Rukum, Dailekh, Jajarkot, Humla, Jumla and Mugu, added Aryal.

He said minimum of Rs. 10 million budget has been allocated to each district for the programme.

The Bank has allocated Rs. one billion for the Fund to run the programme in other 50 districts of the country as per the government´s direction.
