Police Intensify Security Checks Ahead Of Festive Season |

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Citing the convenience and safety to the passengers with the festivals approaching fast, the traffic police have intensified security checks at different points entering and exiting the capital city.
Spokesperson of the Traffic Police Pavan Giri said they have upped the security checks to prevent possible fraud, loot and coercion on passengers.
The security check is carried out with mobilization of additional forces, he said, adding that the security check is continued from 10am to 8pm at Sallaghari of Bhaktapur and Pharping of Kathmandu while it is tightened from 2pm onwards at Nagdhunga and Kalanki of Kathmandu.
Even the citizens´ help fund has been set up at 12 places in the capital to solve the passengers´ problems.Surprise check on drivers is conducted to ascertain whether they are driving with drink.
Similarly, strict direction has been given to not allow passengers traveling on hoods of public vehicles.
According to Spokesperson Giri, two long route drivers found drunk have been taken legal action filing cases against them. The number of bus passengers has sharply increased in almost all routes because of the approaching Dashain and Tihar festivals.
