Govt Decision To Resettle Squatters Challenged |

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday against the government´s decision to build houses for squatters and people with low income at Ichangu Narayan Village Development Committee.
Arguing that the government´s decision is against the criteria set in the Local Autonomous Act, six villagers moved the apex court.
The petitioners have urged the apex court to scrap the government´s decision claiming that the move is illegal.
They have also stated that the government´s decision is silent on settlement of local people with low income.
The Department of Urban Development and Building Construction on May 31 had published a tender notice regarding construction of houses for squatters and people with low income in an area of 7 ropani 14 aana and 2 paisa in Ichangu Narayan VDC.
The prime minister and Prime Minister´s Office, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Kathmandu Valley Town Development Authority, among others, have been made defendants in the petition. |
