Elephant Terror Strikes Saptari Village |

SAPTARI, Oct 17: People in Bhardaha and surrounding areas in Saptari district have been terrorized after wild elephants started wreaking havoc since past few days.
A herd of elephants demolished half a dozen houses in Bhardaha village on Tuesday night. The elephants are believed to have come from the Kosi Tappu Wildlife Reserve.
The tuskers tore down the house of one Shyam Mandal at Bhardaha-1, causing damage to property worth Rs 200,000.
Similarly, the wild elephants destroyed the houses of Gajendra Mandal, Chandan Mandal and Jagadish Laugi, among others. They have also destroyed the foodgrain stored in the houses.
The elephants were driven away by personnel of the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force and the locals.
