Urlabari Folks Picket DDC Office |

BIRATNAGAR, Nov 2: The locals from the newly-declared municipality of Urlabari on Friday encircled the office of Morang District Development Committee (DDC).
The locals, who hired two buses to come to Biratnagar to picket the DDC office, were protesting the delays into turning Urlabari into a functioning municipality.
Even a year after the government declared Urlabari as a new municipality, the Village Development Committee (VDC) office of Urlabari is still functioning.
"Even though we are yet to see the municipality office in Urlabari, we have been forced to pay taxes as citizens living in municipality," said a local Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dik Bahadur Limbu.
The locals have threatened to launch a series of protests to exert pressure on the government to implement its decision. |
