BHAKTAPUR, Aug 13: Almost a decade in the making, the Bhaktapur-Nagarkot road has yet to be completed. The road has potholes everywhere and blacktopping work has been stalled in the area from the Kharipati barracks of the Nepalese Army to the front of the Changu Narayan Municipality office.

KATHMANDU, August 24: Potholes have made the Dhobi Khola Corridor, which was once lovely, unsafe. The risk of accidents has increased as the potholes on the road are not repaired on time.

BHAKTAPUR, Oct 11: Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur, Rudra Devi Sharma has instructed the authorities concerned to fill the potholes of the main and auxiliary roads of the district within 24 hours. She has given such instructions so that passengers would not have to face difficulties such as traffic jams and accidents due to potholes during the festive season.

Naagdhunga road full of potholes again

NAUBISE, Feb 20: The vital road along Nagdhunga, which serves as the main passage to the capital, is full of cracks and potholes although it was repaired just four months ago during the last Dashain festival.  It is being repaired once again after complaints from the commuters. In the view of the upcoming monsoon, the authorities have expedited the repair works. The highway is among the busiest roads in the country with hundreds of light and heavy vehicles and passenger buses passing through everyday.

Potholes and dusts have almost become one of the defining attributes of the Kathmandu Valley. When it rains these potholes get filled with water, which when the vehicles ram upon, splash around nearby pedestrians and bikers. Kathmandu’s potholes have proven to be death traps too.

POKHARA, Sept 19: A local businessman in Pokhara, Om Prakash Pandey was returning home on Monday when he got stuck at Birauta roadside for hours. His car could not move ahead due the pool of water all over the road. After getting stranded there from early afternoon to late evening, he somehow managed to drive further. But there were too many potholes that made his drive too challenging.

KOHALPUR, Aug 30: Continuous rainfall in Western Nepal since the past few weeks have caused several potholes in the East West Highway making transportation riskier for the commuters. Certain section of the highway has been affected by floods as well.

TIKAPUR, July 13: The road was black topped around one-and-a-half year ago and that had brought huge respite to the locals as the road was in a great mess. But the respite did not take long to wane. Lots of potholes have started appearing in this newly blacktopped road in Tikapur of Kailali district.
