KATHMANDU, March 7: While private boarding schools have already started adopting preventive measures to tackle the possible spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), it has been found that most government-owned schools have failed to take any precautionary measure to contain the possible spread of this fatal virus among students.

School level education is becoming a burden for the state—whether in developed country like the US or the poor country like Nepal. In the US, education secretary has been criticized for not doing enough for upkeep of community schools. In India, school-level education and management of teachers are becoming burdensome tasks for different states. Teachers are seen as staging protests frequently.

ROLPA, Nov 14: The total number of students in Rolpa during last year was 81,702, according to the District Coordination Committee. In the current fiscal year, the number of students has declined to 67,188. The public schools in Rolpa are reportedly suffering human resource crisis along with lack of proper infrastructure.

However, the second Oli-led government in 2019 has reportedly started “crippling” the famous school against its own previous commitment.

The national assessment of students’ achievement has shown that achievement level of the students from public schools in Nepal is low. For the same reason, people blame that there’s no quality education in public schools. Although the scores of the students are not and should not be the only determiner of quality education, it’s one of them.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The students of public schools across the country are likely to face a shortage of textbooks this year again owing to the government’s dilly-dallying in publishing the books.
