Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Shah, popularly known as Balen, has taken a noble initiative to provide shelter to stray animals. This pioneering initiative aims to address the longstanding issue of stray cattle wandering on the streets, often neglected, starved, and exposed to risks of accidents.

Socially and politically, the issue of stray animals has become a part of a big debate today. But till date, no organization or government has taken any effective steps to solve this problem. These animals often block traffic flow resulting in unnecessary wastage of time and many road accidents.

Actor Shraddha Kapoor has donated to an NGO to help them feed stray animals during the lockdown period.

Filmmaker Farah Khan on Sunday said that her 12-year-old daughter Anya has raised Rs 70,000 by sketching pets, the proceeds of which will go towards feeding the homeless and stray animals affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
