Three individuals including the then PADT Member Secretary Milan Thapa cleared of charges in Jalhari case

KATHMANDU, May 1: The Special Court has acquitted three individuals including the then Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Milan Kumar Thapa in the Jalhari case of Pashupatinath.

On Tuesday, Special Court Judge Tek Narayan Kunwar and Judge Muraribabu Shrestha decided to acquit the accused.

Among those acquitted are Dr Pradeep Dhakal, Milan Thapa and Arun Kumar Shrestha.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case in the Special Court on charges of alleged damage to public property.

A letter submitted by the CIAA reads, “Proper protection measures for metals, including precious gold used in constructing Jalhari in Pashupati Temple, should be ensured. Additionally, the construction of Jalhari should only be entrusted to experts with official knowledge of sensitive matters such as constructing gold Jalhari.”
