KATHMANDU, August 11: Narayan Prasad Mainali of the landless squatter’s settlement along the Manohara River in Bhaktapur spent the night in waist-deep water on Tuesday due to the flood caused by incessant rain. Mainali, who was living in a small hut with her two children, told Republica that he had lost the hope of 'living' at that time.

KATHMANDU, August 11: The police have arrested four people with the illegal drug brown sugar from three separate places in Jhapa. According to Basant Pathak, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Jhapa, an Indian citizen from Bhadrapur, one from Birtamod and two from Damak were arrested with brown sugar on Wednesday.

The flood has destroyed landless squatters’ and other settlements on the banks of the river, infrastructures at Kadaghari Police Sector and Dibyashwori Land Integrated Project.
