PANCHTHAR, April 21: With just 25 days left for the election, various political parties have intensified programs to lure new members to their party.

Major political parties like Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist-Center), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) are organizing programs to draw in cadres and leaders to their party ahead of the May 14 polls.

These days, members of political parties are found uploading photos and status of new members on Facebook and other social media sites.

Most of the political parties are busy forming strategies on how to persuade powerful cadres and leaders from other parties to join their party. For cadres and leaders, clashes and disputes within the parties are the major reasons behind switching party.

RPP is trying it's best to convince members of other political parties to join the party.

This is not the first time that the political parties are running these kinds of campaigns as it was also observed in the last two Constituent Assembly elections. Though political parties welcome a large number of members to their party with the objective of making their party secure more votes, only a few of them make it to the election.

Those party members who are disappointed with the rules and policies of their party are eagerly waiting for other parties to approach them. In few places, newcomers have also been chosen as candidates for election. Women and Dalits are given priority by the parties.

According to Brjhang Angdembe, Panchthar district secretary of NC, more than 500 cadres have entered their party for the upcoming elections. Similarly, Raj Kumar Bhandari, district chairperson of CPN-UML informed that around 1, 500 cadres of various political parties have joined their party.

Bhandari further informed that most of the cadres are from NC, CPN (Maoist-Centre), Limbuwan among others. But, there are some other parties which have decided not to open up for new members.
