The flag bearer

The flag bearer

KATHMANDU: Laxmi Narayan Shilpakar (62) wakes up every morning, takes a walk from his residence in Kalimati and travels along the streets of Kathmandu Valley with the national flag in his hands.

Gradually and unknowingly, he shouldered the responsibility to increase love for the national flag among Kathmanduities. He doesn’t work for money, rather for the nation’s benefit.

He wants Nepali youths to acknowledge the importance of nationality. Also known as ‘Flag Man’, Shilpakar has been to all 75 districts of Nepal to spread the feeling of nationality, and wants to make his journey international.

Prior to this, he had worked as a carpenter. Shilpakar has also been involved with several organizations. He is a single father to his two sons, a daughter and two
daughters-in-law.
