SINDHULI, April 28: The construction work of the Dharan-Chautara-Sindhuli-Hetauda (Madan Bhandari) highway has reached the final stage. The work in the western section of the highway is in full swing and 95 percent of the construction work has been completed so far, according to the project office of the western section of the highway.

"The road construction work has reached the final stage," said Niranjan Thapa, an engineer at the western section of the Madan Bhandari Highway Project. “Even the Bagmati Bridge is open to the public and it is easier for the traffic.”

The construction of a six km road from Khattar to Dhura Bazaar in Kamalamai Municipality-4, located at the district headquarters of Sindhuli, has been obstructed for almost four years with the demand to divert the highway. The construction work has reached the final stage after resolving the dispute over the mapping of the highway.

The residents of Kamalamai Municipality-6, Dhura Bazar, had obstructed the construction work stating that they would be displaced by the construction of the highway and demanded to divert the highway. The construction work started after it was agreed to reduce the width of the highway from Siran to Khattar of Dhura Bazaar and build it through the same place. "A few disputes are still coming up. However, we will solve the issue as we continue working," Thapa said.

In the western section of the highway, Kalika, Swachchhand, Raken JV Kathmandu have taken charge of the construction while Jet IEC Sharma and Lama JV have taken the charge for the construction of the eastern section of the highway. The 11-meter-wide road is paved in two layers. According to the project, the first layer has a pitch of 11 meters width and the second layer has a pitch of 7 meters width.
