SURKHET, Feb 27: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has decided to cancel the agreement with India's Seven3 Sports Pvt Ltd, the main partner of the Nepal T-20 League cricket competition.

A General Assembly of CAN held in Surkhet also decided to authorize its Central Working Committee to collect the payment amount that is due with Seven3 Sports Limited as per the agreement reached when the first edition of the tournament was held.

CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand said that the General Assembly decided to cancel the contract with Seven3 Sports Pvt Ltd of India, the commercial and strategic partner of Nepal T-20 League, as they did not act according to the agreement signed on December 22, 2022.

"During the first edition of the Nepal T-20 League, the company's director Jatin Ahluwalia and CEO Abhishek Shaklani were involved in spot-fixing, so the general meeting has decided to cancel the contract up to the eighth edition," President Chand said. The General Assembly has given responsibility to the Central Working Committee to carry out the necessary legal process for the above.

An eighth edition agreement was signed between CAN and the Indian company Seven3 Sports Pvt Ltd.

The Central Working Committee has been authorized to seek clarification from General Assembly members and Central members Sanjay Raj Singh, Mo Dawood Ansari, Rishiram Gautam, Amitvir Pandey and Karan Mahatara Chhetri and to suspend them if no satisfactory answer is received.

"This General Assembly regrets that various activities are being carried out against the Association by holding press conferences against the Association, going to various bodies to discredit and suspending the Association," said President Chand while announcing the decision of the General Assembly.

The General Assembly has decided to seek clarification from Bagmati Province Cricket Association President Raju Basnyat and Kathmandu District Cricket Association. On February 26, Basnyat submitted a petition to the National Sports Council to suspend the working committee of CAN, while the Kathmandu District Cricket Association sent a representative to the Central General Assembly.

CAN will complete district, province and central elections by July 2023. The General Assembly has given the responsibility to the Central Working Committee to make a schedule to complete the district, province and central elections by the end of July after revising the statute of the association in coordination with the ICC.

The General Assembly has formed a seven-member draft committee to bring amendments in the Statute of Association under the coordination of Central Member Padam Bahadur Khadka. It also decided to recognize Baglung and Parbat as district cricket associations.

In addition to endorsing the annual audit report for the fiscal year 2022/23, the General Assembly also passed the annual program and budget for 2023 with revisions.
