Corruption in procurement of sanitary pads, CIAA files case against five including CAO

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 26: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against five people including the chief administrative officer (CAO) of Rupani Rural Municipality, Saptari.

A case has been filed against the then CAO of Rupani Rural Municipality, Saptari, Arbinda Kumar Chaudhary, accountant Shyam Sundar Yadav, secondary level teacher Shyam Prasad Yadav, non-gazetted first class official Sujan Dahal on the charge of irregularities in the budget of distribution of free sanitary pads in schools.

To distribute sanitary pads for girls in community schools in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, the sanitary pad worth Rs 911,925 from the budget allocated in the rural municipality was bought for Rs 1,785,928. The CIAA has claimed  that the officials have benefited in procurement of sanitary pads with the connivance of Lalita Kumari Shah, the owner of the Laxmi Traders and Suppliers in Rajbiraj.
