LAHAN, December 14: As homework begins to form the government in Province 2, the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal (FSFN), which secured the most parliamentary and provincial assembly seats in the province, have initiated talks on merging the two parties.

LAHAN, September 7: Not many candidates get chance to get elected thrice to the reputed post of mayor. Lagan Lal Chaudhary of Lahan-1, who was twice appointed as mayor during the Panchayat regime, made it to the same post again during the multi-party democratic system post 1990. With a hope of claiming the same post once again, Chaudhary has filed for his candidacy in the upcoming third phase of elections too.
With the election just around the corner, political parties in Madhes are in fierce competition to throw away grand feasts. Considered as the best tactics to woo voters, political parties are organizing feasts everywhere.
SAPTARI, Sept 1: Dhiwaga village in Saptari would be popularly called a ‘food zone’ due to its abundant production of food grains. Over the years, the small village with around 1,000 households was gradually shrinking. Floods every monsoon and the changing course of the nearby Belan river was taking its toll on the land. This impacted the production of rice, maize and wheat in Dhiwaga. According to the locals, all their land have now turned into a desert.
