RAUTAHAT. Sept 11: A revelation has surfaced regarding a rural municipality chairman in Sarlahi, who was recently brought to court over discrepancies in his Nepali citizenship certificate. It has come to light that the chairman, Ram Asray Shah of Sarlahi's Dhankaul Rural Municipality, possesses not one, but three Nepali citizenships, each obtained on different dates.

Legal action has been initiated against Shah for the multiple citizenship certificates, and a case has been filed at the Janakpur High Court. The High Court has ordered Shah's immediate arrest, followed by a comprehensive investigation to determine the appropriate course of action.

The court order to arrest Shah and start an investigation has been issued by the joint bench of Judges Dway Sagar Bista and Bishnu Prasad Koirala of the High Court in Janakpur. Shah's first citizenship certificate bears the number 217 with a date of birth listed as 2001/01/10, while his second citizenship certificate carries the number 19-01-73-08636 and a date of birth as 2011/01/10. Furthermore, there are claims that Shah holds yet another citizenship certificate.

Initial attempts to file a formal complaint with the local police office in Barahathwa for an investigation were met with refusal, leaving the locals with no recourse but to approach the Janakpur High Court. Subsequently, the Janakpur High Court accepted the case and issued a directive for an investigation and legal action.

Following this court order, the local police office in Barahathwa finally registered the case. However, there are allegations from locals that the police have been uncooperative in their investigation efforts. The situation continues to unfold as the legal process progresses.
