Former JSP parliamentarian assaulted in Sarlahi, three arrested

SARLAHI, April 15: In Ishwarpur Municipality, Sarlahi, Pramod Shah, a former member of parliament (MP) from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), was attacked and beaten up. The incident occurred around 11 PM on Sunday when Shah and his workers, Rajendra Mahato and Ravi Paswan, were returning home after irrigating their corn crop.

Sarlahi Police Spokesperson DSP Deepak Shrestha reported that Shah went to the scene after being informed of the initial attack on his workers and was subsequently assaulted himself. Along with Shah, four individuals including Mahato, Paswan, and Nikesh Shah sustained injuries in the attack.

The injured were initially treated at the local Amrit Healthcare, after which Shah was transferred to Kathmandu for further medical care. The police have arrested local residents Aryan Chaudhary, Siddhanta Chaudhary, and Saroj Majhi in connection with the assault.

According to the police, Shah has filed a complaint against the arrested individuals, pressing charges for attempted murder.
