Winter is hovering around the valley and it can clearly be felt. With the arrival of November, temperatures have gradually dipped, squeezing the day light. Not just an increase in temperature but the increase in the thickness of people’s outfit indicates the advent of winter. People have started wrapping themselves up in heavier and thicker clothes in order to stay warm. But wrapping in more layers of clothes does not mean that winter cannot be stylish like other seasons. You might have noticed celebrities flaunting warm winter outfits.

To know how they manage to look good in layers of winter clothes, My City team talked with a few celebrities.  Following are the excerpts: 

Benisha Hamal, Actor 

The unique characters that Benisha Hamal portrays on each of her ventures make her stand out from the rest. She made her way into the Nepali film industry with  ‘Swor’ in 2010, and collected further appreciation from the audiences for movies like ‘Mokshya’, ‘Kalo Pothi’, ‘Jhyanakuti’, and ‘King Returns’. ‘Blind Rocks’ is her latest endeavor. She was awarded ‘The Best Actor Award’ in 2018 for her outstanding performance in the same movie. 

Do you like winters? 

Because of the cold weather, it’s really hard to work during winters.  So, I personally don’t like winters. 

What is the best thing about winter fashion? 

Flaunting a confident look with long coat and boot is the best thing about winter fashion. Moreover using colorful attires like caps and scarfs to match your outfit is the best thing about winter. 

Your plans for winter shopping?

This year I haven’t don’t winter shopping yet. Though I am a shopaholic, I don’t have a lot of winter gears in my wardrobe. So this year I am planning to add fur jackets and long boots to my wardrobe. 

Your favorite winter gear and accessories? 

I am not into accessories. However, sunglasses are my all time favorite.  Long coats and boots are my confidence booster. 

What is winter fashion for you?

Being fashionable is being comfortable, no matter whether its summer or winter.

Arjan Pandey, Musician 

Although an IT engineer by profession, Arjan Pandey is an absolute musician at heart. He entered the Nepali music industry in 2015 with his first song ‘Oiliyera Jharna Dinna’, from his first album ‘Naya Sapana’. An Image Award recipient of 2016, his recent song ‘Relimai’ was well received by Nepali music lovers. Pandey is currently prepping up for his upcoming songs which are to be released this month.

Do you like winters? 

Winter is my favorite season as it allows flaunting varieties of clothes. 

What is the best thing about winter fashion? 

Creating a unique pattern with different colorful dress is the favorite thing about winter. In summer, we wear single layered clothes; 

normally t -shirts and pants, but in winter we can play with our clothes’ designs and colors. 

Your plans for winter shopping?

I am a shopaholic. So I have numerous winter outfits in my wardrobe. However, this year, I am planning to add one formal winter gear. 

Your favorite winter gear and accessories? 

I love to wear heavy clothes. Over coat is on the top of my list. I think over coat suits since I am tall. When it comes to accessories, watch is my all-time favorite. 

What is winter fashion for you?                                                                                No matter whether it’s casual or a formal look, winter is the best way to look at your best. Therefore I consider winter fashion as the best way to experiment with my sense of fashion.  

Deepak Bajracharya, Singer 

Constantly giving hits after hits since 1990, Deepak Bajracharya is credited for introducing Latino grooves, and Flamenco rhythms into Nepali music. The singer has gathered much fame from his evergreen hits including ‘Oh Amira’, ‘Maya ko dori le’, ’ Ritu’, ‘Kali Kali Hsisi Pareki’, and the recent ‘Mann Magan’.  Currently, Bajracharya and his band, ‘The Rhythm’ is engaged in the promotion of their solo tracks ‘Sanisani’, and ‘Allare’

Do you like winters? 

I personally don’t like winter because of the cold, dipping temperature.  But from fashion’s point of view this is the best season to flaunt clothing layers. 

What is the best thing about winter fashion? 

The best thing about winter is wearing layers of clothes and each of them contains pockets which makes it easier to put your gadgets in. 

Your plans for winter shopping?

I have lots of winter gears in my wardrobe, including hoodies, jumpers, and long coats.  So, this year, other than a few jackets, I have no plans for winter shopping. 

Your favorite winter gear and accessories? 

I would definitely go with sunglasses, as they are easy to carry and helps to protect the eyes from cold weather.  Light t shirts with tight denim pants are the perfect combo for all season. Layering it with over coat and scarf gives that warm feeling during winter. 

What is winter fashion for you?

Winter is all about layering yourself into stylish clothes for me. 

Swastima Khadka, Actor 

Swastima Khadka is one of the renowned female actors of Nepali Film Industry. She debuted in silver screen through ‘Hostel Returns’ in 2015. She has been a part of various   hit films including ‘Dui Rupaiya’, ‘Chhakka Panja 2’and ‘Hostel Returns’. ‘Jai Bhole’ is her latest endeavor and she is currently working for her next movie titled ‘Bulbul’, scheduled to be released on February 14.  

Do you like winters? 

During summer we can flaunt light clothes. On the contrary, in winter we have to wrap ourselves in heavy clothes. So, comparatively I feel summer is better than winter. However, winter fashion is fun in its own way. 

What is the best thing about winter fashion? 

Winter fashion is totally different from others. Because of the chilling weather we cannot wear light clothes. You do have to adorn yourself in layers of furry, fluffy and thick clothes. People might have different fashion tastes. Creating unique designs with layers of colorful designs of clothes is the best thing about winter fashion. 

 Your plans for winter shopping? 

As I don’t like winter, I don’t have any specific plans for the winter. However, I have already started my winter shopping. I have a couple of heavy fur jackets and caps in my shopping list. 

Your favorite winter gear and accessories? 

I don’t want to look over accessorized. That’s why I generally don’t use any accessories. But warm clothes like caps and boots are my favorite in winter.

What is winter fashion for you? 

No matter whether its summer or winter,  for me, fashion is all about being comfortable.
