BAJURA, Nov 27: The CPN-Maoist Centre has demanded action against those involved in the murder of its student leader Chetan Ayadi in Bajura district during the November 20 election. Organizations affiliated to the CPN-Maoist Center in Bajura have drawn the government’s attention arguing that those who were allegedly involved in the murder have not yet been arrested even a week after the incident.

In a joint press statement issued by the party leaders and human rights organizations, the Maoists have demanded that the killers be arrested and action taken against them immediately.

The statement says it is unfair to drag someone out of his house and kill him while the murderer walks freely under political protection.

CPN Maoist Center Provincial Committee Treasurer Kamal Kumari Shah, All Nepal Women’s Association President Janaki Budha, President of the district chapter of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (R) Khemraj Saud, District Incharge Nirmala Kumari Bista and Ganesh Raj Giri issued the joint statement.

Maoists have officially spoken for the first time about the Chetan Aidi murder case. The CPN-Maoist Center has drawn serious attention to the brutal murder of Aidi, who was reportedly beaten to death, and has also requested the police administration not to delay in taking action against the killers.

The Maoists have demanded compensation for the families of both Chetan Aidi and Sanjeev Aidi, who was killed in police firing on November 20, action against the culprits and a fair investigation into the incidents.

The relatives of Sanjeev Aidi, who lost his life in a police firing, have cremated him, while Chetan Aidi’s body has been kept at District Hospital, Bajura. Relatives have filed a complaint against 22 people involved in the murder. The police have arrested only two people so far. It has been learnt that the police have not been able to arrest the murder-accused even though they are active on social media.
