Nepal welcomes Pak bilateral visit after 24 years

Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived in Kathmandu for his two-day official visit.  The visiting PM is scheduled to congratulate KP Oli for being appointed as the country’s prime minister along with discussing opportunities to expand and strengthen bilateral relations across areas of mutual interest including trade, education, tourism and defence.  

Bachelor classes in agriculture in Chitwan after seven years

Tribhuvan University is resuming classes this year in agriculture science after seven years in Chitwan. The program came had come to a halt following the government’s decision to provide land occupied by the Rampur Campus to the Agriculture and Forestry University.   

Deuba defeats Singh, becomes NC’s PP leader

Sher Bahadur Deuba, chairperson of Nepali Congress was elected as the Parliamentary Party leader of Nepali Congress. Deuba defeated Prakash Man Singh, former general secretary of the party with a vote difference of 25. Deuba and Singh received 44 and 19 votes respectively.

A complete men’s march is being organized on the International Women’s Day (March 8) to join hands against violence against women and girls. 

China to cut more coal, steel output to defend ‘blue skies’

China plans to cut more steel and coal production capacity this year to make “skies blue again”. China plans to reduce steel production by around 30 million tonnes and coal output by about 150 million tonnes this year.

Breast cancer patients at greater risk of developing congestive heart failure

A study has found that patients treated for breast cancer or lymphoma are more than three times at risk of developing congestive heart failure within five years of their diagnosis. About seven out of every 100 cancer patients developed heart failure.
