NC postpones all its scheduled programs for three days to mourn demise of CWC member Budhathoki

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to suspend all party programs including the 'Nepali Congress in community’ campaign for three days following the death of Central Working Committee (CWC) member Keshab Kumar Budhathoki.

An emergency meeting of NC held on Tuesday morning decided to suspend all party programs following the death of Budhathoki on Monday. NC’s Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel said that the party has decided to fly the party’s flag at half-mast and postpone all pre-scheduled programs for the next three days.

Similarly, the party has decided to close central, provincial and district offices on February 7 and keep condolence books in central, provincial and district offices for 13 days. The meeting has also decided to organize a mourning assembly in Jhapa on the thirteenth day of his demise.

NC CWC member, Constituent Assembly member and former General Administration Minister Keshav Kumar Budhathoki passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment at Birat Medical College, Biratnagar.

Budhathoki, who was born on October 7, 1944 to father Rankeshar Budhathoki and mother Nanda Kumari Budhathoki, has played a leading role in NC and democratic movements in Nepal.
