KATHMANDU, Sept 17: Ncell celebrated a remarkable 18-year journey of transforming lives and communities through connectivity and its telecommunications services in Nepal. Since its inception on September 17, 2005, Ncell has been providing dedicated cutting-edge communication solutions, revolutionizing Nepal's telecommunications landscape.

In the event organized by Ncell celebrating its 18th anniversary, Jabbor Kayumov, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Ncell, expressed his pride in being an integral part of the lives of over 16 million Nepali customers.

"Ncell is always here for Nepal and Nepali people, and now we are even more committed to continuing to address the needs of the country," he affirmed. He further emphasized the vision to facilitate access to essential resources for the majority of Nepalis, solidifying Ncell's commitment to its customers.

In alignment with its brand promise, 'Today, Tomorrow, Together', Ncell unveiled the theme 'Here for You,' announcing a series of activities and programs aimed at driving social causes and creating a meaningful impact at the community level. The newly launched campaign, 'Every customer is a winner,' promises delightful surprises for customers over 28 days, showcasing Ncell's gratitude for their continued support.

In the event, national Paralympic athletes came forward to share their experiences and voice their concerns. They highlighted a glaring issue: a lack of budget allocation for disabled individuals. Despite their unwavering enthusiasm, they face significant barriers in accessing various sports facilities and training programs, which are not designed to be disability-friendly.

Durga Man Tamang, a distinguished national Paralympic powerlifting player who represented Nepal in the 2016 World Championship in Dubai, expressed deep disappointment in the government's indifference and insufficient efforts to address the needs of disabled individuals. He lamented, "We find ourselves nowhere on the government's list of priorities. If the government hasn't adequately addressed the concerns of the abled, it's highly unlikely they will do so for the disabled." Tamang went on to emphasize how the dearth of accessible infrastructure has severely limited their opportunities for training and advancement.

Ncell partnered with the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Nepal, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative demonstrating its commitment to the development of Paralympic national players. This strategic alliance is anticipated to provide comprehensive support for training, development, and nutrition, both nationally and internationally.

To strengthen community bonds, Ncell invited applications from Not-for-Profit organizations for projects addressing local challenges. According to the company, the seed fund of one million rupees each for each community project is primarily focused on education and health, with secondary emphasis on environment, disaster response, and livelihood support programs.

Over the past 18 years, Ncell's contributions to various social causes have exceeded Rs 1.8 billion, reflecting its dedication to education, environment, and health, among other areas. As one of Nepal's largest taxpayers, Ncell's contributions to the government have amounted to Rs 283 billion, making a significant impact on the nation's economy.

According to the company, Ncell's services have not only revolutionized telecommunications but have also played a vital role in the socio-economic development of Nepal. From introducing affordable mobile connections to pioneering 3G and 4G services, Ncell has been at the forefront of technological advancement.

In a groundbreaking move towards transparency and accessibility, Ncell's CEO, Jabbor Kayumov, announced the opening of an Instagram account and announced the availability of his direct email address ceo@ncell.axiata.com for public inquiries. This move has aimed to foster trust and transparency, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.

In celebration of its 18th anniversary, Ncell planned an array of activities, including health camps, blood donation drives, tree planting initiatives, and friendly football matches, reaffirming their commitment to the communities they serve.

After the event, Ncell's dedicated team, led by CEO Kayumov, embarked on a customer engagement tour, making stops at Ncell centers located in Durbarmarg, Baneshwor, and Chabahil. As part of their 'Bazaar Jaon' initiative, the Ncell team conducted in-depth visits to various retail outlets to gain insights into the range of services offered, including SIM card provision, recharge facilities, and associated charges available at these stores.

As Ncell marked this milestone, it made a commitment to stand resolute in its promise to be 'Here for You', today and in the years to come, driving progress and connectivity for Nepal.
