NEPSE loses 17.01 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 2.48 billion

KATHMANDU, March 25: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday declined by 17.01 points to close at 2,031.55 points.

The market opened at 2,048.56 points and fell straight to 2,031.26 points in the first half an hour. The index went to the day’s low at 2,028.25 points in the midway of the trading hours. The market remained almost stable in the remaining period.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased 4.64 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 2.48 billion from Rs 4.31 billion on Thursday.

Out of the four gainers, manufacturing and processing had its index increase 147.82 points, the highest. Hotels and tourism, trading and mutual funds were among the gaining groups. Of the 10 losers, life insurance shed 100.25 points.

Among individual companies, only 38 were recorded as gainers whereas 203 were the losers.

Gurkhas Finance Ltd had transactions of its shares worth Rs 289.02 million and led the segment of highest turnover. Kisan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost loser, while Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited gained the highest of 10 percent of its market price.
