LAHAN, Dec 24: Main opposition party CPN-UML has held a district level- orientation program at Lahan in the district on Saturday.

The program has been organized with the district-level leaders from Saptari to Parsha to prepare them on how to deal with allegations charged against CPN-UML that this party is against the Madhes movement.

Speaking at the program, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar stressed on the need to implement the constitution rather than to amend it.

Lashing out at the Medhesi leaders Nepal said that Madhesi leaders did not even maintain roads in the home districts during their tenure as ministers.

Claiming that there are provisions galore laid down in the constitution to make Madhes and Madhesi people prosperous, Nepal said UML  will never accept the provision on inducting a foreigner in the key post of the country.

Similarly, he also ruled out to adopt foreign language as the national language of the country.

Echoing to Nepal’s voice, UML senior leader Jhalanath Khanal said that there is no alternative to implement the constitution by withdrawing the amendment proposal registered in parliament.

“We must hold provincial elections to implement the constitution. Holding local level elections will not protect the constitution,” Khanal said.

Speaking on the occasion, UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel said that the constitution amendment has been registered to conspire against the constitution. He categorically stated that the current constitution has not discriminated Madhesi people.

Tension flared in the program after the cadres of the Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal (FSF-N) uprooted the flags put up by the CPN-UML.

Meanwhile, a huge number of security personnel have been deployed in the areas to prevent any untoward incidents.

On the other hand, FSF-N is also organizing a Province-2 level orientation program.

Senior leader Ashok Rai and FSF-N Chairman Upendra Yadav are addressing the program.

Addressing the program, Yadav warned that they would disrupt the elections process if held without amending the constitution as per their demands.
