KATHMANDU, May 26: Reiterating its commitment to hold the second round of local elections on June 14 as scheduled, the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday asked the government to ensure foolproof security to hold the elections in a free, fair and credible manner.

LAHAN, May 26: In the next seven days, Madhes-centric parties will have to decide whether or not to participate in the second phase of local elections slated for June 14. Since those parties that have remained undecided about participating in the elections are losing their cadres to other parties, some of the Madhes-centric parties are opting to participate in the election due to immense pressure from their cadres.
